Frequently Asked Questions
Why are we doing this?
Currently,
Antioch is a size where almost everybody knows everybody. If all the teachers
know who the parents are then why would we need to do this? When visitors come
we don’t always know who the parents are. It also boils down to the simple fact
of keeping our children safe beyond a shadow of doubt. There have been
situations in which predators have chosen churches as their crime scenes just
because the people there are so trusting. We do not want to take any chance
with our children’s safety. Also, as Antioch grows it will be increasingly
difficult for the teachers to always know who the parents are. When visitors
come to Antioch they will feel at ease knowing that there is a secure safety
system in place for their children.
Who
can pick up my child?
Anyone who’s name the parent or guardian
has designated on the blue Children’s Information Sheet AND that has the Parent
ID card. For example, Mom can drop little Sue off but after church she can hand
Aunt Jane the card to go pick up the child AS LONG AS Aunt Jane’s name is on the
blue Children’s Information Sheet.
If
my name is on the Children’s Information sheet do I still have to have the
Parent ID card to get my child?
YES! No child will be released
with out the Parent ID card.
What if I lose my parent ID card in the church
building or leave it at home if I just dropped my child off for a special event?
You will have to show some type of Picture ID before your child is released.
You and your child will be issued new ID #’s if the original one can not be
found. You are not allowed to show your ID card just because you don’t
feel like getting the Parent ID card from your spouse, etc. We always need
the ID card back!
What
if I have more than one child?
Each child will have a separate ID tag therefore the parents will have a
separate Parent ID card for each kid. Sibling ID tags will be similar though.
For example, Joe Smith’s ID # will be 101A while his sister, Jane Smith will be
101 B. It is necessary for us to make separate cards for everyone to ensure
that no child gets overlooked.
Do
I keep the Parent ID tag?
The only time you have the Parent ID card is when your child is attending a
class or event without you. When you turn it into his teacher in order to pick
your child up you will not get it back until the next time you come for an event
or service.
